Choghadiya: today’s good and bad times, by city
Choghadiya divides daylight and night into eight equal parts each and names every part Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Chal, Udveg, Rog or Kaal in an order set by the weekday. Open your city for today’s sixteen times; the tables below show the order for every weekday.
How Choghadiya is calculated
Daylight (sunrise to sunset) and night (sunset to the next sunrise) are each split into eight equal parts, so a choghadiya lasts about an hour and a half near the equinoxes and longer or shorter with the season. By day the first part belongs to the weekday’s graha and the names follow the order Udveg (Sun), Chal (Venus), Labh (Mercury), Amrit (Moon), Kaal (Saturn), Shubh (Jupiter), Rog (Mars); by night the order starts from the fifth weekday’s graha. Amrit, Shubh and Labh are counted good, Chal neutral, Udveg, Rog and Kaal inauspicious.
Because the parts are tied to sunrise and sunset, the clock times differ from city to city and day to day. The names are the same everywhere on a given weekday.

Grades follow the panchanga tradition; they are not a forecast.
Choghadiya Amrit is a part of the day named Amrit; it is not the nakshatra-based Amrit Kaal that some panchangas print, which this site does not calculate yet.
