What a dasha is — and is not
A dasha is a traditional way of dividing time and asking which graha’s themes an astrologer should emphasise. It is a framework for reflection, not a forecast: it does not guarantee any job, relationship, health or money outcome.

How to read these previews
Birth details stay in your browser
No account is needed. Birth details are optional and only used for the 3D Kundli and its dasha: the calculation runs in your browser, and the details are not sent to Cosmic Quest, stored, put in the address or added to analytics. Reloading the page clears them. Your browser remembers only display and sound choices and whether a one-time gesture hint was shown.
Every result says what it is
Each preview is labelled as the current moment, your birth details, your selection or an example, as calculated, schematic or illustrative, and as astronomy or a named tradition. Open “About this result” for the settings.
Your data, your decision
Read the privacy policy or request account deletion for the app whenever you choose.
Method
- Positions: astronomy-engine 2.1.19, checked against JPL Horizons (Sun and Moon within 0.005°).
- Sunrise and sunset: the Sun’s upper limb with standard refraction, checked against the U.S. Naval Observatory (within 1.5 minutes).
- Sidereal zodiac: Lahiri ayanamsha as a linear model (23.8531° at J2000 plus 50.29″ a year). It can differ from published Lahiri tables by up to about an arcminute.
- Hora: daylight and night each divided into twelve unequal parts; the first hora after sunrise belongs to the weekday’s lord.
- 3D Kundli: sidereal zodiac with the linear Lahiri model above, Whole Sign houses counted from the Lagna, and the mean lunar node. Birth time is read in the birthplace’s own time zone (IANA rules, daylight saving included).
- Vimshottari: 120-year cycle, 365.2425-day years, proportional sub-periods.
- Rahu Kaal: daylight divided into eight equal parts; the weekday chooses the part.
- Choghadiya: daylight and night each in eight equal parts, named by the weekday’s standard sequence.

Questions
What works on this website?
Today’s sky and Panchanga for any of 37 built-in cities and any time from 1900 to 2100, the two Moon perspectives, a 3D Kundli for this moment or for birth details you enter, an illustrative planetary-period timeline, the Observatory lessons and the Sanctuary. No account is needed.
What stays in the Android app?
Saved charts and profiles, divisional charts and interpretations, sensor-guided sky viewing, Vastu AR, reminders, offline content packs, backups and purchases. They depend on your data, device hardware or Google Play services.
Is the 3D Kundli my chart?
Only after you enter your birth date, exact local birth time and birthplace. Until then it shows the current moment for the Today city, which is not anyone’s birth chart. Your entries are calculated in your browser and are not sent to Cosmic Quest. Today’s values are calculated for the city and time you select — they are not a personal horoscope.
Which calculation settings are used?
Sidereal zodiac with a linear Lahiri ayanamsha, Whole Sign houses, the mean lunar node (the app defaults to the true node), sunrise at the upper limb with refraction, and Vimshottari with 365.2425-day years. The app lets you choose many other settings.
How precise are the values?
Positions are good to a few arcseconds, so tithi and nakshatra ending times are usually within a few minutes. Near a boundary, a panchanga using another ayanamsha or sunrise convention can show a different tithi or nakshatra.
What data leaves my browser?
Calculations run locally, and fonts load from this site. The 3D scenes download verified models from Firebase Storage after a Firebase App Check (reCAPTCHA Enterprise) request. Birth details for the 3D Kundli never leave the page. Optional analytics (Google Analytics) runs only if you choose Accept analytics; it never receives your city, times, birth details, chart values or other entries. Change it any time under Privacy choices at the foot of the page, and see the privacy page.
What if the 3D scenes do not load?
Every scene has a drawn fallback and the explanations work without 3D. You can set motion to Reduced or Off and choose lighter 3D, or none, under Motion and display.
Does accurate astronomy prove astrology?
No. The positions are astronomy; tithi, nakshatra, hora and dasha are traditional frameworks built on them. Cosmic Quest shows the calculation behind each so you can decide what it means to you.
